Chris Madsen Trio

A highly original, historically-conscious, and forward-thinking ensemble, the Chris Madsen Trio was formed in 2010 out of a series of musical associations that brought these musicians together. Comprised of saxophone, guitar, and bass, the group's unique take on early jazz and standards is turning heads from Chicago to New York. The group has performed at the Brookfield Jazz Society, Andy's Jazz Club, the Des Moines Social Club, Katerina's, Club 3160, the Highland Park FOCUS on the Arts, Pete Miller's, and the Ridgeville Park Summer Concert Series.

Currently, the trio has just finished work on their debut album, The Chris Madsen Trio Plays the Music of Bix Beiderbecke. Scheduled to be released in the fall of 2011 on JeruJazz records, the album pays homage to Bix with special nods to close musical associates Frankie Trumbauer, Bill Challis, Jean Goldkette, and Paul Whiteman. Arrangements by Madsen and company creatively re-imagine Beiderbecke's most famous works including the Modern Piano Suite (Flashes, In a Mist, In the Dark, Candlelights) in its entirety.
